WEEK 61: "Just Keep Going--With Faith"

Hello everyone!

It's a short email today, it's been a long week but I honestly can't remember most of it.

Here's just some highlights:
- We took the bus system this week. It was a mess but such an adventure!
- I got sunburnt.
- We had an exchange with Sister Meyer and Sister Jenks, and it went so well! It was a major success, and it was a fantastic day.
- Sister Sena made Brazilian cheese bread and it was delicious.
- We had New Missionary Training on Tuesday and it was a spiritual feast!
- We had an invigorating weekly planning session and got ourselves so organized and we're working hard with our goals and plans!

I love the talk by Elder Carl Cook from April 2023 General Conference called Just Keep Going--With Faith. (Please go read it, it's wonderful). He begins with this powerful statement, and I just love it!!
"Elder George A. Smith, an Apostle, received counsel from the Prophet Joseph Smith at a time of great difficulty: 'He told me I should never get discouraged, whatever difficulties might surround me. If I was sunk in the lowest pit of Nova Scotia and all the Rocky Mountains piled on top of me, I ought not to be discouraged but hang on, exercise faith, and keep up good courage and I should come out on the top of the heap at last.' How could the Prophet Joseph say that—to someone who was suffering? Because he knew it was true. He lived it. Joseph repeatedly experienced severe difficulties in his life. However, as he exercised faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement and just kept going, he overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles."

Amazing. This one means a lot to me, and I know we are not meant to get discouraged! Discouragement weakens our faith and decreases our focus on the Savior. As missionaries we're taught a lot about how to handle discouragement and to build our faith. I've seen how refocusing on my Savior pulls me from the times of discouragement. It's hard and it takes work, but He's never let me down. We're meant to have joy, and we can find it in Jesus Christ! Go find solace and healing and joy through prayer and in the scriptures this week!

Love you, bye!!
