WEEK 26: A White Christmas

Image
Merry Christmas, friends and family!! It's been a lovely week this week. I hope your Christmas celebrations were full of love and joy! We had a lot of great things happen this week. We had a Christmas conference with President and Sister Rodarte, and we met at the Family History Library in Las Vegas. It was a beautiful program, and afterwards we had a crash course in how to help our people get more involved with family history, took pictures with President and Sister Rodarte, ate the MOST scrumptious street tacos in the world, and did some service at The Salvation Army! It was a lot of fun. There's been a big push for family history this week, and as Sister Welch and I have tried to implement it more in our teaching, we have seen the miracle of the "hearts of the fathers [turning] to the children, and the children to the fathers." Our friends have embraced family history, especially Sara. She has been on fire recently and is working tirelessly to get her family tree s...

WEEK 25: MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

Hello!! This week was all over the place. It was absolutely wild! A lot has happened since last week's email. The most exciting thing is that our friend Sara is on date!!! She is truly the most elect lady in the world. She's been prepared her entire life, and she's finally ready. Sara is truly one of the most Christlike people I know. She has so much humility and compassion. She's searching so desperately to find rest, and she knows she's finally found it. Sister Welch and I adore her with our whole hearts!! She and Vance had their baptism interviews last night. We are waiting to hear the results from President Denis and President Rodarte. If we get the green light to move forward as planned for their original date this weekend, we're gonna need lots of prayers to pull the baptism program together on kind of short notice. But it will all be worth it, no matter if it happens this week or we need to wait. We had a one-on-one lesson with Sara, which is rare, but it...

WEEK 24: Miracles!

Image
Hey!! A couple miraculous updates for y'all this week: 1) VANCE IS ON DATE FOR BAPTISM!!! We had an amazing lesson with him and his mom Lucy this week. Our fellowship was amazing, too! We asked Vance if he would like to work towards baptism, and he eagerly said yes. It seemed like he'd been anxiously waiting a long time for us to ask, and he pounced on the invitation. He was so excited and so grateful, and when we knelt to pray with him, he said the most beautiful and heartfelt prayer. We discussed afterward, and Vance settled on Saturday, December 24th as his goal! We are SO excited!! Brother Monga and his mom Lucy were so blunt with him and really helped him fully commit. He has a lot of obstacles to hurdle between now and then, but we know it's completely possible with the Lord. Vance has a very strong Word of Wisdom concern, and he knows it's going to be a battle to fully give it up once and for all. He recieved a beautiful priesthood blessing from his fellowship an...

WEEK 23: "Cheerfully Do All Things..."

Image
Happy Monday, friends and family! I hope things are well wherever you are! Sister Welch and I are doing well over here in Henderson. We have had a lot of really great experiences this week with our friends and with the members who live in our wards. First of all, we had dinner with the Willis family on Thursday. They're a cute family with 4 young kids. When we walked in for dinner, the 3 younger children greeted us at the door and ushered us into the living room, informing us that they would be acting as our "hosts" for the night. They led us to the dinner table and showed us that theey had prepared table settings for us--including a paper with our name indicating where we should sit, and a homemade menu. They were so sweet and excited to have us over, and were so excited to hear our Chirstmas message and participating in the #LighttheWorld campaign this month! Afterwards, they kids gifted us with stickers that they picked out. It was the sweetest thing EVER, and I have l...
