WEEK 13: ¿¿Month Tres??

Image
Hello hello!! I have a singular item of housekeeping that I need to clear up. Last week I titled my email as Week 11. It was, in fact, Week 12. So that's why this week's number jumped from 11 to 13... My apologies, I simply can't count. But let's just move right along, shall we? First of all, I hit 3 months on my mission!! It's flying by so quickly. I love being a missionary! If you remember my last email, I was pretty excited about the people that came to church last weekend! They were in our list of the people who are learning and progressing the fastest, and we had high hopes for all of them. Well, between Sunday and Monday night, we lost half of that list. Megan and Cheryll are part of a family we're teaching, but they recently moved and we had to pass them off to the elders in their new area on Monday. Roy came to church, but when we called to ask him how he liked it on Sunday, he said he didn't like it, doesn't want to keep reading the Book of Morm...

WEEK 12: You Won't Believe What Happened...

Happy Monday! A LOT has happened this week. One big thing, specifically. Something major. Something exciting. The biggest thing that happened this week was that (drumroll, please)..... WE GOT A CAR!!! It's true! You read that right. We have a car now!! The APs (Assistants to the President) called us Thursday morning and told us that we would be receiving a car! Did we start jumping up and down and crying as soon as they hung up? Yes!! This is such a huge miracle for our area! Of course we're not going to stop biking, there are plenty of miracles that come from biking. But now we can make it to the furthest ends of our areas consistently, and can drive ourselves to church, and Zone Conference, and all the good things! This is truly going to hasten the work in our area. It's already accelerating, I've seen such a difference in the 3 weeks that I've been here. Things are moving quickly! And this is such a blessing. By the way, our car is named Ruth. It's been a gre...

WEEK 11: Week Of Miracles

Image
Happy Monday, everyone! It's been a great week here in Vegas. A bit or a rough week, but we have definitely seen God's hand guiding us this week, and there have been so many miracles! A lot of unexpected things happened this week, but it's because of those things that we have seen God's hand directing our days and answering our prayers. So I'm going to tell y'all about some of them.  Starting with the most noticeable miracle, it's been below 100⁰ this week! Which has not happened since I got here in July. The highs this week were in the 90⁰s, and I wanted to cry. It felt so nice, and the wind didn't feel like a blow dryer, it was actually cool! Fall is officially on its way, and I've never been more grateful for cooler weather.  I have had really amazing personal studies this week! We get an hour of study time every day, and most of my studies this week have been very inspirational. I have found a lot of peace and answers to things I've been cons...

WEEK 10: The Sparrow Is Taking Off

Image
¡Hola, mi familia y mis amigos! This has been a wild week!! I was transfered out of the Railroad Pass Zone in Henderson and into the Sunrise/Central Zone in East Las Vegas. My companion is Sister VanLangeveld, we cover the Morning Sun and Sunrise Mountain wards, which are 2 of the wards surrounding the Las Vegas temple. We are roommates with Hermana Wright and Hermana Housley, who cover the Spanish branch in our area! When Sister Wood and Sister Mudrow took me to transfers, I felt like I was being dropped off at college by my parents all over again haha. There's definitely been many highs and many lows already, but I am happy to be here. Lows, because I use humor to cope: - I'm in a biking area now, and we cover the neighborhoods surrounding the temple. That in and of itself isn't bad, except for the temple is on a hill. And so is our apartment. And so is everything else we bike to. The majority of our biking is going uphill, and my legs simply no longer work. President use...
