WEEK 18: My First Rocket

HOWDY!!

How is life?? I would love to hear about it.
We've been living laughing and loving over here in East Vegas! It's been an incredible week. A lot has happened, so bear with me, this might be lengthy...
BUT. Missionary work is SO MUCH FUN! It is such a blessing to have this opportunity to do this work. I spent a lot of time thinking about the chances of me getting assigned to this mission, out of all the missions in the world, and the fact that I am here in this area, with these missionaries and this companion.... there's no way this isn't Divinely orchestrated!! I am exactly where I need to be. And I am so lucky to have this area and to learn from and be friends with the missionaries, members, and friends around me. There are so many good people here! I've just become overwhelmed with love for this area, and gratitude that I have the privilege of working here. God is so good!!!

I have a lot of pictures to share this week.

Starting with Monday, we had a brunch party with our district. Elder Holden made crepes, and we brought watermelon and pancake mix and toppings. We went to the Temple View chapel, and were cooking in the kitchen, which is the South side of the chapel. It also happens to be the side that faces the temple, so we had the kitchen door open, which let in sunshine, fresh air, and a gorgeous view of the temple. We are truly so lucky to be here! It was so much fun. The elders had music playing, the food was scrumptious, and it was one of the most chill Pday activities I've had yet. I also changed a bike tire AND polished my shoes. I've never been more self-sufficient. Woot woot!!

Monday night and all day Tuesday we had exchanges with Hermana Moyano and Hermana Aires, our STLs! They are such bold missionaries, I always learn so much by being with them. We kept track of how many people we talked to on Tuesday, and it was 44! They talk to everyone without fear. It's absolutely incredible. If anyone has tips for how to become a fearless missionary, send them my way. I am working on not being a coward!!

Wednesday we had our district council. Elder Bowen has changed the format this transfer, and I really love it! It's more of a discussion as a whole instead of companionship presentations/reports. It definitely allows for more revelation to come, and for us to create better action plans as a district. That night one of our wards combined with the YSA ward for a chili cook off/trunk-or-treat, so we worked with the elders at their car. They had planned and decorated the car, all they asked us to contribute was our disco ball string lights. They had music, pass-a-long cards, the whole shebang. It was so chaotic and so fun.

Thursday we had our weekly planning session! Heads up future in-field missionaries: every week you have an uber mega big planning session every week. It's actually so fun! We had dinner with our ward mission leader on Thursday, and as we were leaving we looked up in the sky and saw a ROCKET MISSLE THING. I don't even know officially what it was. But Brother Henrie told us it was launched from California! It left the coolest trail/afterburn that was bright white and then faded into an actual rainbow. It was VERY exciting.

Our member Toni gave us pumpkins she grew in her garden after we visited her on Friday! We also went out to eat with the Hermanas at a cute little taco stand. 10/10.

Saturday morning we had a service project where we helped a member move. The YSA elders and our Hermanas came, and it was a lot of fun! The Elders came back to our apartment complex and had a picnic lunch on our grass outside. We opened the doors and windows and had our bluetooth speaker hanging from our front door playing music while we ate lunch. It was a party. Brother Henrie stopped by after lunch and gave us some ribs that he had grilled! During the pandemic he welded a barbecue and uses it all the time. They were the best ribs EVER.

It's been a great week!! I hope you all have a wonderful week!!! And Happy Halloween:)
