WEEK 6: Temple Trip
Happy Monday, friends!!
I can't believe it's been another week, time is FLYING out here. Not a lot of big things have happened this week, we've had quite a few meetings so we haven't been out and about in lessons as much as we usually are. But that's okay, because it provided the opportunity for me to reflect a lot about myself and how I'm doing. It's been a harder week but still really incredible. We've seen a lot of miracles! One of them being that our good friend Lavonne has decided to work towards baptism! She is incredible, and has the strongest belief in Jesus Christ that I have ever seen. We feel so lucky to have finally found her!
I've been learning a lot about patience and charity this week. We have a pretty tight schedule (there's lots to do when you cover 7 entire congregations in a large area), and when lessons with chatty people go overtime, I struggle to stay focused and relaxed. And then I see my wonderful companions who are still wholeheartedly involved, and I start to compare myself and get frustrated with my lack of patience and charity. It's a cycle that I need to break, and I've been focusing on it in my personal studies this week. Everything always comes back to learning how to utilize the Atonement of Jesus Christ in my life. Not just for the forgiving of mistakes, but for finding strength and courage and joy in the work. It finally clicked in my brain this week that the way to do that is to repent daily. It is definitely a process, but I know I'm still loved even when I mess up. And everyone reading this is too!!!
We got to go to the temple this week!! It was super short notice, but shoutout to Elder Scott who works at the mission office for letting us sneak in with the Spanish district! It was so awesome to go, it's such a beautiful temple!
Missionaries are often asked to help people move. We got asked to help a woman pack up her home on Friday morning, and it was a great experience. Her name is Karen, and she's been living alone for a while until she decided to move into a smaller home up in Utah. She had such a bright personality and kept getting emotional as we cleared out the garage and started on her closet. It was very tender, and it just shows how much service can touch people!
We played pickleball as a district for Pday, and it was so fun! A really kind member works at a BOUJEE country club near Lake Las Vegas, and he let's us in to play. So that's where we went! It was absolutely scorching hot, so we were only there for about an hour and a half.
Also here is my address: 640 E Horizon Dr Henderson NV 89015 Apt #313. We love to take field trips around our apartment complex to the mailbox when we get tired of sitting and planning, haha.
I hope everyone's summer has been fantastic, it's crazy that it's almost over! I love you all :)
